Behemoth

... at least that is how it seemed when I opened the package from Canon today and took out the lens they sent me on loan to evaluate it for my use. My friend Derek said that I would never be able to hand hold it for the type of shooting I like to do. So I called Guy and asked him to join me on a shoot this afternoon at the ponds and requested he take a shot of me shooting with the rig. I got a lot of very nice shots, but Derek is right that this is not a camera/lens combo I would want to shoot hand held every day ... or every other day or for that matter, ever again. Still, it was fun and the first photo is the one that Guy took of me getting a shot of some waterfowl.

The next shot is of a Great Blue Heron that had just touched down. The quality of the lens is absolutely amazing. The downside is the handling of it for my type of shooting; absent the hiring of a Sherpa to be my assistant in the field the lens will be going back ... grateful though for the program Canon offers through the Canon Professional Services to loan before you buy.

Have a great day ... write me if you would like to act as a Sherpa on my shoots :+)

Cheers

Ted
