Clarkdale continues stake-out for permanent chief
CLARKDALE -- Clarkdale Town Manager Gayle Mabery has announced she will re-open the Town's recruitment for a Police Chief, after the post went unfilled in the first screening.
According to the Manager, "Although we had a very diverse and qualified applicant pool, we had a few finalists withdraw late in the process, and I was unable to identify a candidate that I felt was the right "fit' for the Town of Clarkdale's needs. The Police Chief plays a critical role for the community, and it is well worth the time to find a person who is not only experienced and qualified, but is the right fit for the community."
Only two candidates advanced to the fourth and final selection round. One was from a city of 25,000 in California. The second was a chief in a small 1,000-population town in rural Colorado.
Fortunately, says Mabery Interim Public Safety Director, John Wintersteen, has agreed to continue to serve in the interim role for another 4-6 months in order to provide continuity to the department and the community."
The second recruitment process for the position will begin before the end of March.
