This week at Grace Lutheran
Grace Community Lutheran Church has Sunday Service at 10:30 a.m. The church is at 5100 Stevenson, Rimrock.
This has been a busy week for me. During a busy week it can be difficult to squeeze in time for God. In my case I spend a part of my week thinking and writing about God. In the past when I was in business I often did not think about God all that much. When the things of the world demand our attention, time with God, is quite often the thing that drops out the first. While our God is a loving and forgiving God, even when we do not spend a lot of time with Him, there is a different way we can think about this situation in our life.
God and time with Him can be as important as something like food. When I get hungry, I have learned, I function better if I stop and eat something. When we get thirsty, it doesn’t take long for a lack of water to really affect us. The same can be true of our relationship with God. He has gifts and things for us that will make our lives better. Not only do we receive forgiveness for our sin, God has spiritual strength for us as well.
In the Lutheran church this strength comes from hearing and trusting God’s word as well as the sacraments. It is also comforting to spend time with God in prayer. As we live our lives, it might seem easier to let that time with God slip by, but just as food and water are necessary, time with God is necessary to a happy fulfilling life. This is something you can test for yourself. Spend time with God, especially in His word, the bible, and see if it has a positive effect on your life. It is also helpful to imagine what your life would be like, if you had no relationship with God at all. The opposite of no relationship would be a full and deep relationship with God. That kind of relationship would certainly be much better.
My hope and prayer for all of us is that we will experience all the blessings God has for us in our relationships with Him.
