New Cordes Junction interchange at Arcosanti Road to open
As significant progress continues to be made to reconstruct the Cordes Junction traffic interchange at Interstate 17 and State Route 69, drivers can expect additional traffic shifts that will allow crews to continue work on the bridge over I-17, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The following traffic shifts and restrictions are scheduled next week:
Monday, Nov. 5: The newly constructed Arcosanti traffic interchange bridge and ramps, located just north of the existing interchange, will open beginning at 7 p.m. The Arcosanti traffic interchange will provide local access to Cordes Lakes and Arcosanti.
Cordes Lakes Road will become a one-way roadway, accommodating only westbound traffic toward Prescott starting at 8 p.m. Drivers on eastbound SR 69 (from Prescott) headed to Cordes Lakes will be directed through the roundabout at Arcosanti Drive and the Arcosanti traffic interchange to Stagecoach Drive into Cordes Lakes. Drivers on SR 69 from Prescott who wish to go northbound I-17 or to Arcosanti will be directed over I-17 at the same traffic interchange. The new alignments will be clearly marked.
Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. to allow crews to install temporary concrete barriers along the roadway.
The work is part of a $50 million project to modernize the I-17/SR 69 traffic interchange.
