Gallery: Jerome Lights Up The Mountain 2012
Jerome Lights Up the Mountain, held on Saturday, November 24, is an annual tradition that brings together the local community, and a multitude of tourists, to officially mark the holiday season by turning on the town Christmas lights decorating Upper Park. Adding to the holiday ambiance were 500 luminaria placed along sidewalks from downtown to the old high school building. Students from the Mingus High School choir added to the celebration by singing carols throughout downtown, Santa posed for pictures with families and Tom Pitts read "T'was The Night Before Christmas" in the ruins of the Bartlett Hotel. At 6:30 pm sharp, Santa led the festivities, throwing the switch to the cheers of those below before riding away in the town's vintage 1928 fire truck.
