Style statement by Marion Maby and Dawn Bush
Flagstaff Ranch Golf Club held its first Boot Scootin’ Invitational tournament in late August, promising cooler temperatures, beautiful scenery, and lots of fun.
The fun-loving ladies from OCC were well represented at this event, and certainly did have a great day.
While the OCC teams didn’t distinguish themselves with their golfing skills, Marion Maby and Dawn Bush were outstanding in matching costumes complete with water pistols and hobby horses. Congratulations to Dawn and Marion for taking the prize for the best “Boot Scootin’ Cowgirl” outfits.
The fun continued on Sept. 4 when it was OCC’s turn to host an interclub. It was a lovely day, with 48 players from seven clubs, and finished up with lunch in Redstone’s new dining room.
Congratulations to Marion Maby, who this time did distinguish herself with her golfing skills, for winning low gross with a score of 90.
The Interclub Series provides opportunities to play at different clubs in friendly competition, with reasonable fees are that include prizes and lunch. If you haven’t tried it yet, keep an eye out for details of October’s interclub at Talking Rock in Prescott on Oct. 23.
On a more serious front, the Team Match Play series for 2012 has come to an end with OCC in third place for both net and gross scores.
It was a hard-fought contest, and the ladies of OCCWGA appreciate the efforts made on our behalf by our team members.
Many thanks to Lori Zaun, LeeAnn Morgan, Donna Cantello, Allene Richlie, Julie Larson, Barbara Erickson, Ann Glutting, Kathy Davidson, and Marion Maby.
AWGA provides many opportunities throughout the year to play great Arizona courses that wouldn’t otherwise be available to us.
The next one is the Scotch Play Tournament scheduled for Oct. 22-23 at Torreon Golf Club in Show Low.
This is a partners tournament, and players are to sign up in teams, with a rate of $155 per person, including cart, range balls, tee prizes, and awards.
Find more information on the AWGA website, or on the bulletin board in the ladies’ locker room at OCC.
