Great things happening at Adopt For Life Center
The Adopt For Life Center For Animals has been moving forward and upward for some time now. I would like to keep the community informed on the progress we are making and hope to make in the future.
So, let’s say we compare this to a television show, a series, if you will, where every week you tune in to see what’s happening on your favorite program. Let’s call it Adopt For Life Center “As The Shelter Turns.”
In the last episode, we talked about an event that was coming up. Well, I’m happy to report that the Rock ’n’ Rover Gala Event was a big hit. The Retros Band was outstanding. That was obvious by seeing people getting up and on the dance floor. A local car club showed up with close to 30 vintage automobiles, some really cool stuff. Many happy people walked away with silent auction items that they just couldn’t live without. We had a special guest appearance from Warren Eckstein, internationally known pet and animal expert. And of course, the food was great, and the desert even better. A rockin’ big thank you to all those who helped put this event together.
Now, stay tuned because in future episodes we will be letting you know when our second annual Rock ’n’ Rover Gala Event will be coming.
In a previous episode of “As The Shelter Turns,” I spoke about our Spay/Neuter Sponsorship Program. It is off to a good start with six sponsorships in the last several weeks. That means we had the ability to spay or neuter six animals, who are now ready to head to their forever homes as soon as someone falls in love with them. This also assists the Shelter in its financial responsibilities, and for that we are very grateful.
And if you are a fan of our Adopt For Life Center “As The Shelter Turns,” you will know that we have been working toward Project Canine Playground. An area of our property that was once used as outdoor kennels has been converted into a playground for our shelter dogs. This area will be used for multiple purposes, including use for our Enrichment Program to train shelter animals, introduction of Shelter dogs to live with and enjoy other shelter dogs, and in time even a great place to hold public training classes.
If you are familiar with several of our episodes involving the Paw Boutique Thrift Store, you will know that it continues to be one fabulous shopping experience. The folks at The Paw Boutique are always trying to make it more exciting place to shop with specials including their last Saturday of the month half price sale. Stop by the shop at 791 N. Main St. in Old Town Cottonwood and pick up their monthly calendar of specials.
And now allow me to give you a preview of upcoming episodes. On Oct. 6, Olsen’s Grain, 1171 E. Hwy 89A, Clarkdale, will hold their Customer Appreciation Day. The Adopt For Life Center For Animals will be present with adoptable cats and dogs. This may be your magic moment to find the love of your life -- with four legs, that is.
On Oct. 10, Adopt For Life Center For Animals is thrilled to present, for your pleasure, another Wet Nose Wednesday held at Rendezvous In Old Town, 777 N. Main St., Cottonwood. There will be food and drink specials, silent auction, and more. Tickets are available at the Adopt For Life Center as well as Rendezvous In Old Town and are only $10 per person. Come with a friend or friends for an evening of good times including a visit with a furry friend or two from the Shelter.
And finally, or at least for now, the Adopt For Life Center “As The Shelter Turns” premier episode entitled “Donation Adoption Days.” On Oct. 11-13, the adoption fees for most animals at the Shelter will be waived. Donations will be greatly appreciated. This is just one more opportunity for you to find that furry, or not-so-furry, friend that you have been looking for. Adoption applications will still be required from all potential adopters. But you will have a vast selection of fantastic pets to select from, and we are sure that special one is waiting here for you.
So as you can see, we are continuing to make great strides at Adopt For Life, we will continue to give you updates on where we are now and where we are going, and we will continue to strive to make the Adopt For Life Center For Animals a model community animal care facility. That was my commitment to you in the beginning and my commitment to you now. So, stay tuned to “As The Shelter Turns.”
