Ruth and Tom Hewitt celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on July 6, 2013 at 1pm in the fellowship hall of the Verde Valley Church of the Nazarene in Cottonwood. Their daughters, Karen Hudson and Sheryl Golden planned the event including invitations, decorations, food preparation, cake & punch with the assistance of their brothers Tim and Mark Hewitt. The affair included family and close friends with 40 people in attendance.

As a joke, Tom and Ruth entered the reception with a walker and a cane while the guests sang "The Old Gray Couple Ain't What They Used to Be." There was a time of food and fellowship. Judith Cunningham read a poem that she had written titled "Boy & Girl Pelican." Just before cutting the cake, Becky and Calvin Bennett sand "We Have This Moment." The children presented their parents with a week's stay at the Adair Springs Cabin in Pinetop, AZ for their anniversary celebration.

The couple was married July 6, 1953 at the First Church of the Nazarene in San Bernardino, California.
