'Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical' debuts at Fisher Theatre
David Hasselhoff stars in big-screen production

The Sedona International Film Festival continues its "Direct from Broadway" series with the big-screen debut of the "Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical" starring David Hasselhoff, premiering Dec. 6-7. The production premieres in high definition at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre.

"Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical" brings new life to Robert Louis Stevenson's classic story of the epic battle between good and evil, as imagined by acclaimed composer Frank Wildhorn and writer/lyricist Leslie Bricusse. David Hasselhoff made his Broadway debut in the dual title role, bringing his performing talent off the television screen (Knight Rider, Baywatch) to the musical theatre stage.

"Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical" is the longest-running show in the history of Broadway's Plymouth Theatre, with more than 1500 performances over nearly four years. The show won a legion of repeat visitors, dubbed by the press as "Jekkies", with some hardcore fans having seen the show hundreds of times. Performers as diverse as The Moody Blues, Liza Minnelli and Johnny Mathis have recorded songs from the show, including "Someone Like You", "This Is The Moment" and "Once Upon A Dream." Captured in brilliant high definition.

Another notable cast member is Kelli O'Hara, who makes her Broadway debut in the ensemble of "Jekyll & Hyde", but soon thereafter had a starring role in Sweet Smell of Success with John Lithgow. She has since been nominated 4 times for best actress Tony Awards in The Light in The Piazza, Pajama Game, South Pacific and Nice Work If You Can Get It.

"Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical" will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Friday, Dec. 6 at 4 and 7 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 1:00 p.m. Tickets are $15, or $12.50 for Film Festival members. Tickets are available in advance at the Sedona International Film Festival office or by calling (928) 282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. 89A, in West Sedona.
