Teens face car burglary charges in Camp Verde
CAMP VERDE -- Beau Petefish and a 16-year-old male were arrested after a string of motor vehicle burglaries in Camp Verde.
At approximately 2:50 a.m. Tuesday, a Camp Verde Marshal's deputy was patrolling the 600 block of Elk Ridge, in The Views subdivision, when he spotted the suspicious subjects getting out of vehicles. They told the deputy that they did not own the cars. The suspects were detained and questioned.
During the investigation, the two allegedly admitted to "car jumping," which they described as going from car to car, looking for unlocked vehicles, and then rummaging through them, taking anything of value.
The investigation led to the discovery of a total of 11 victims in the Views and the Cliffs subdivision.
According to the report, Petefish cooperated by taking the deputies to his house and allowing them to search his vehicle, where the two allegedly stashed stolen property. Among the items recovered was a .38 caliber revolver.
This investigation also led to the closure of two additional car burglaries when the 16-year-old admitted to involvement in incidents on Dec. 15, in the 700 Block of Finnie Flat Road.
Petefish was booked into the Yavapai County Jail in Camp Verde charged with burglary, theft, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and underage consumption of alcohol. The 16 year old was booked into the Yavapai County Detention Center in Prescott on charges of burglary, theft, and underage consumption of alcohol.
