Verde Valley Sanctuary Teen Maze March 5-6
COTTONWOOD - The Verde Valley Sanctuary will hold its annual Teen Maze in the Clemenceau gymnasium at 1 N. Willard St. on March 5 & 6 beginning at 9 a.m. A parent preview will be held March 4.
"This is not a fund raiser," said Carol Benedict of the sanctuary. "It's to teach children to make healthy choices."
The free event will draw kids in seventh through 10th grades from public school districts and charter schools in Cottonwood, Camp Verde, Clarkdale and Sedona. Free transportation will be provided through a special grant.
"The theme this year is Steps to Success," Benedict said. "It's how to chart your map for your future."
Many topics will be presented, including substance abuse, nutrition, Internet safety and pregnancy prevention.
MATforce will be helping out, along with the Yavapai County Health Department and area police and fire departments.
The Central Arizona Food Bank will provide a snack and drink for the kids. Benedict said some students like to bring their own lunch and sit outside on the grass to eat.
