Scanlan wins Marauders female athlete of year award

Following a senior year that involved going to three state tournaments, former Marauder Delaney Scanlan was named the Mingus Union High School female athlete of the year.

Scanlan ended her high school career at the Division-III track and field state tournament by placing in the top-5 in all of her events. She even brought home top-3 hardware for the 200-meter race (third), 4X100-meter relay race (second) and 4X400-meter relay race (second). Those finishes, plus her teammates top finishes, led the Marauders to their second, consecutive state trophy for.

Not only relegated to the track, Scanlan was part of Mingus' girls soccer team that finished runner-up in D-III this season, losing by 1-goal to Campo Verde. During the previous season (2011-12), she helped her team finish in the top-5 of D-III, losing to Flagstaff in overtime in the semi-finals.

If that was not enough, Scanlan also was a part of the volleyball team, and the setter. During her final season, the Marauders volleyball team made it to the second round of the state playoffs, before losing 3-1 to Tuba City.

Scanlan has signed to go play volleyball at South Mountain Community College.
