Premier of First Fridays Art Celebration at Main Stage
Putting on a Show
Cottonwood's new music venue Main Stage will debut its first installment of First Fridays at Main Stage, their monthly commitment to sharing and spreading music, art, and community on Friday, June 7, running 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. and free to the public.
The monthly event will feature a wide variety of artistic contributions including live music, art showings, art vendors, jewelers, painters, sculptors, fashion designers, dancers and more.
This month's event will feature Phoenix hip hop act The Insects, "an audio/visual extravaganza that has captivated the most jaded show patron." Their performance includes live music, a DJ, live painting and more.
The venue will also open their art gallery this evening, wherein they will feature a new artist each month. June will feature the art of Jody Lew. Jody is an independent artist, painter, and illustrator living in Southern Arizona. Her paintings are interpretations of vibrant color and composition using traditional oil paint. She holds bachelor's degree in Fine Art and continues to make art as a means of self-identification and self-expression.
Saturday, June 8, will feature Phoenix area indie-folk act The Senators. The Senators are a new face in the Arizona music scene, but are already receiving national attention. Rooted in years of collaborative songwriting between the Teer brothers - Jesse & Rooster - the project came together in the summer of 2012. Phoenix New Times called them one of "13 bands to watch in 2013" and they have built great momentum in the Southwest. Opening for The Senators will be experimental indie/baroque pop act, Emby Alexander.
Sunday, June 10, marks the return of bluegrass act Back Porch Pickers to the Mains Stage's 'Church of Bluegrass." The morning presents some of the Southwest's best bluegrass bands along with a bloody mary breakfast.
The Main Stage will also hosts weekly events on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Wednesday nights are Ladies' Night featuring DJ's and drink specials from 9 p.m. to close. Thursday nights Christopher Robin presents Music Mafia - a Nashville inspired, invite-only multiple act showcase and jam from 9 p.m. to midnight.
Main Stage is located a 1 S. Main St. in Cottonwood. The bar and venue is open 4 p.m.-1 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-1 a.m. Sunday, and closed Monday and Tuesday. For more information please visit www.mainstagetheater.com.
