Cottonwood's 12 St. re-construction to begin soon
Planning is near completion for the redevelopment of 12th Street in Cottonwood. Work has been under way for a couple years to update the two-lane roadway. Plans also call for curb, gutter, sidewalks and bicycle lanes on each side of the roadway.
City staff and contract designers have been busy finalizing the design documents and coordinating with all the utility companies that are involved in the project.
Most of the utilities along that section of roadway will need to be moved, extended or replaced. The complex topography and substandard soils have made this design unusually complex.
The city and utilities companies have been busy acquiring needed right of way in which to place the utilities.
It is anticipated that bids will be advertised for the construction of this project later this spring with actual construction to begin this summer.
It has now been decided that because of the length of this project, it will be divided into two phases with the project finished during the summer of 2014. The north half of the project will be the first section completed.
