Obituary: Francis Irvin McCracken, PhD 1935 - 2013

Dr. Francis Irvin McCracken, 77, Clarkdale, died March 11. He is survived by wife Karen and two sons, Kelly (Alene), Tempe, and Alan, Scottsdale.
Francis was born in Bicknell, IN, the only child of Irvin and Mildred. He graduated from Phoenix College (1955), Arizona State College (1957), and received an MS degree from Oklahoma State University (1959). He married his college sweetheart Karen Jorgensen May 16, 1959. He completed his PhD at Washington State University, Pullman, (1972). Francis taught biology at the University of Idaho before working with the USFS, Stoneville, MS, as a Plant Pathologist. After retirement (1991), he taught biology at Yavapai College. Francis had many hobbies including building and flying model aircraft, belonging to Central Arizona Modeler’s Club.
