Gallery: CMS Mural "It Takes A Village To Create The Future"
Over the course of many weeks, students at Cottonwood Middle School have been working on a wall mural with the theme of community. This week marked completion of the colorful and inspirational mural that is visible to pedestrians and motorists as they pass Brandi's Restaurant, gracing the full length of an outside wall of the school. All CMS students were invited to participate in the mural project that was headed by artists Joan Bourque and Sallie Cross. A few students acted as liaisons with the community to develop the imagery for the painting, while the student body proceeded to work in shifts to make their collective vision a reality. During spring break members of the community, including residents of Cottonwood Village and the Cottonwood Fire Department, pitched in to work on the project. In the end, it did take a village to paint the multitude of people, animals and landscape that make up the remarkable mural.
