Teachers to be honored at Prescott Banquet
PRESCOTT-- Outstanding teachers nominated for Yavapai County Teacher-of-the-Year will be honored at 5:30 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2013 during the 19th annual Yavapai County Teacher-of-the-Year Awards Ceremony and Banquet at the Prescott Resort.
Organized by the Yavapai County Education Foundation, this event brings together educators and their supporters from virtually every community in Yavapai County so that their achievements and successes can be recognized publicly.
A total of 63 teachers from across Yavapai County's district, charter, and private schools were nominated by administrators and school leaders. Nominees completed a rigorous application and interview process and were evaluated by community leaders and former educators. Nominees in six different categories-Pre-K to third grade; fourth grade to eighth grade; cross-grades; high school; small school districts; and the Outstanding First-Year Teacher- will be cited for their excellence in the classroom during the 2012-2013 school year.
From among the 63 nominees, one will be selected as the overall "Yavapai County Teacher-of-the-Year."

Kim Densmore, Clarkdale-Jerome Elementary (Small District Category)
Ariel Vaughn, West Sedona Elementary, SOCSD (Outstanding First Year Teacher)
Bonnie Smith, Big Park Community School, SOCSD (4-8th Grade Category)

The Yavapai County Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has as its primary mission the promotion and support of quality education throughout Yavapai County", said Tim Wiederaenders, YCEF president.
"The awards dinner also is supported financially by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Arizona and by Freeport-McMoRan Cooper and Gold," he said.
