Three prizes were given; 1st a trip to Washington DC and the student's Artwork displayed in the National Capitol building, 2nd a $1,000 scholarship to Arizona Western College, and 3rd a full tuition scholarship for one semester at Central Arizona College. Melissa Amis, a Mingus junior, won the 3rd place prize of a full tuition scholarship to Central Arizona College. After the awards Ceremony Congressman Dr. Gosar was so impressed by Mingus students' artwork he said he will be visit the school next year and personally chose another Mingus Art student, Aubrey Wilson's artwork to hang in his Washington DC office. "Our students' work stands out, both in quality and concept," said Tyler Novak, Director of Arts and Humanities. "It is so wonderful to see the critical thinking displayed by their artwork. Our students specifically chose social and political pieces for this show. They were adamant about exercising their 1st Amendment rights and wanted a Congressman to share in their expression. I am proud of Melissa and all of our wonderful art students who's concept, craftsmanship, and quality of work stands out.
Nice way to end the 2012-2013 School year!"
