Civil unions, smart meters return to Clarkdale agenda
Clarkdale will revisit civil unions and smart meters at its meeting Tuesday night, issues residents were able to first weigh in on last month.
An ordinance allowing residents of Clarkdale to register a civil union with the town will be discussed and considered for adoption.
Council members will also decide whether to send a letter to the Arizona Corporation Commission regarding APS smart meters, a controversial topic that has local residents organizing in protest
The town's new wastewater treatment plant was dedicated in October, and a public hearing will be held Tuesday night to discuss wastewater rate increases. Members of the council will consider a resolution approving the new, higher rates to fund the facility's construction.
There will also be a public hearing to discuss the use of a federal Community Development Block Grant for FY14, a work session discussing an intergovernmental agreement with surrounding cities and towns and improvements to S.R. 260, and discussion and acceptance of a Community Oriented Policing Services federal grant award.
The council meeting will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Men's Lounge of the Clark Memorial Clubhouse.
