'A Patriotic Christmas' to roll through Cottonwood Dec. 7
Sign up now to be part of the 59th annual Cottonwood Christmas Parade kicking off at 11 a.m. Dec. 7 as "A Patriotic Christmas."
Enter your float or your horse, but enter now. A $100 prize will be awarded in for each of the categories: Judge's Choice, Best Display of Theme, Most Creative Commercial, Club and Organization, and Non-profit or School.
Commercial and business entrees are $40. There is a $20 entry fee for entries for non-profit, schools, clubs and organizations. Dress up; the parade will be filmed for rebroadcast on Verde Valley TV, the government channel. The parade will go on regardless of weather conditions.
Remember no 'Santas' may be entered. Santa will ride in his own sleigh. Horse droppings must be picked up. Please check with the Chamber for other police and fire conditions.
Colleen Gilboy says the Grand Marshal has not yet been finalized. Senator John McCain was originally invited but was unable to finalize his participation. The organizing committee wants the parade to recognize the memory of our many veterans. An announcement will be coming later.
Parade entries must be returned by Nov. 22. All fees are non-refundable.
Check in time is 9 a.m. at the Verde Valley Fairgrounds. The parade kicks off at 11 a.m. the Judge's Stand will be located at the corner of Main and Mingus and the parade ends at Main and Cactus n Old town.
