Bird's eye view of Oak Creek Canyon
A time... to play ... after more hours on the phone with tech support Friday morning I broke free and headed to the airport whilst Corky and a friend visited at home. I didn't have a lot of time so after getting the Lambada out of the shade, topped off with fuel it was down the runway and a climbing left three hundred degree turn at the end of the runway on my way to the peaks to check out the snow and color. The clouds over the plateau were an added bonus with the cloud base around twelve thousand feet and tops around twelve thousand six hundred feet. I took this shot while above Oak Creek Canyon and heading NW. In the foreground center you can see the switch backs where SR 89A climbs out of the canyon and heads N to Flagstaff. To the right beginning above the center of the photo you can make out I-17 also with the same destination and in the upper right quadrant is Flagstaff airport and Flagstaff itself. On the horizon from the left is Kendrick Peak, the San Francisco Peaks, Mt Eldon and some other volcanic cones including Sunset Crater. By the time I got to the near cloud in the center I was above the clouds and on my way to sixteen thousand feet for some neat shots around the peaks with clouds and all. Honestly the best shots were to be had beneath the clouds, but not as much fun so I stayed high.
When I got home Corky and I made a Walmart run to pick up a few things and then back to uptown Sedona for a light dinner at the Wild Flower Bakery. Busy day with friends today and perhaps the Verde River train ride Sunday ... or Tuesday.
Enjoy the day and those with whom you meet as you journey through the day and life.
So each one to his wish, and as for me,
I sit tonight and wait
To find the answers to my soul in me,
And in the beauty od the sky and sea.
