Cottonwood Library gets big check

The Cottonwood Public Library held an open house with special guest Secretary of State Ken Bennett on Tuesday, September 10. The occasion was to celebrate the recent acquisition of technology hardware and software to support community youth and adult classes in the newly restructured Teen Zone at the library. at 2:30 pm in The Hideaway, the teen zone in the mezzanine. Secretary of State Bennett presented a giant-sized check for $38,000 that represents funds received from two Library Services and Technology Act grants, "Community Education Opportunities" and "Digital Literacy for Youth," that support the purchase of furniture, equipment, laptops and software. The workshops themselves are provided at no cost to the public. At right, new labs for video, photography, animation and more are now available at the library. VVN/Jon Pelletier
