Singer-songwriter guitarist Dan Hester takes the state in this week's Living Room Music Series at CPL Sedona
The Center for Positive Living Sedona (aka CPL Sedona), located in the Village of Oak Creek at 45 Castle Rock Road, offers the Living Room Concert Series every Wednesday, 7-8:15 p.m.
Hester, originally from the San Joaquin Valley of California, grew up listening to country and rock stations, which influenced his music to be centered around folk, country, rock and pop.
Hester began playing the guitar at 15 and around the age of 20 started writing his own songs, which now has become a catalogue of over 100 original songs. In 2009, he released his own CD which is a compilation of songs that he'd recorded over the years called, Déjà Vu followed by the release of an instrumental album he recorded in 2012 called, Lullabies of New Zealand.
Prior to his relocation to this area, over the years Dan has played in several popular cover bands performing gigs and events in California and Nevada.
Dan commented, "I've fallen in love with the Verde Valley, I've put my roots down Cottonwood, which reminds me a lot of my hometown of Clovis.
"You'll find that my own songs are inspired by the simple things in life, the majority being about love. I also enjoy singing songs that a lot of us know and love from, James Taylor to, John Denver, Allman Brothers, Jewel, Glen Campbell, CCR, and Bob Dylan to name a few."
Founder of the In the Living Room music series, Shondra Jepperson commented, "This is Dan's Hester's first time performing in this music series and I know folks are really going to enjoy his songs which are a blend of folk, country and rock."
Shondra continued, "This music series is a terrific way to introduce artists like Dan Hester that some music lovers in this area may not know and as always the audience is encouraged to ask questions during the concerts every Wed. night so our audiences really get to know the artist behind their music."
