Theresa "Tess" (Wojcik) Benedict, 90, formerly of Clinton, WI, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014 in Mercy General Hospital, Muskegon, MI.
She was born July 27, 1923, in Grenville, SD, the daughter of Leo Joseph and Anna Barbara (Schultz) Wojcik Sr. Tess was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School. She took a year off of high school to help out on the family farm but with her determination was able to graduate in 3 years with the nuns' help. Tess married Frank Benedict on August 25, 1950 in Janesville, WI. He predeceased her on October 24, 1962.
In Tess's early adult years, during WWII she built B24 bombers at Willow Run in Ypsilanti, MI. Tess farmed with her husband in Clinton, WI, until Frank passed away and then she moved to Muskegon in 1967 to raise her children. She loved her family and would visit her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews each summer and speak Polish with them. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren immensely.
Survivors include her children, Terri (Dave) Cronister of Kea'au, Hawaii, Sue (Jack) Robinson of Cottonwood, AZ, Gene (Sue) Benedict of Toledo, OH, and Dave (Sheri) Benedict of Portage, MI; nine grandchildren, Laurel (Bob) Barnett, Shannon (Shawn Butler) Laird, Ron (Jessica) Brueland, Jeff (Robin) Brueland, Stephanie (Matt) Nimmo, Kelsey, Sarah, Chris and James Benedict; 18 great grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn Sklenar of Delavan, WI, and Ann (Duane) Johnson of Avondale, AZ; brother-in-law, Walter Block of Roslyn, SD; numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, 10 brothers and sisters, infant Francis Wojcik, Philomena (Carl) Helwig, Irene Block, Marvin (Amanda) Wojcik, Fidela (Eunal) Woods, Leone (Andrew) Barthle, Lorraine (Walter) Dooly, Marian (Lester) Narem, Leo (Vlasta) Wojcik, and Bridget (Jack) Parker.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 2222 Shopiere Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. John Hedrick officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Visitation will also be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday in the church.
