Connie Joan (Spangler) (Lively) Welcome

Connie Joan (Spangler) (Lively) Welcome passed away peacefully on December 13, 2014 at 12:41 from complications of Parkinson's Disease and is now in the comfort of The Lord.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will always be remembered for her kindness and giving spirit and as an avid volunteer in community activities with over five years at the Verde Valley Medical Center.

Joan was born on May 10, 1933 in Cirtsville, West Virginia to Jeff and Valeria (DeWitt) Spangler. She lived in Cirtsville and attended Beckley High School.

She married her first husband Guy Lively of Pax, WV in Feb 1951, later divorcing. In April 1974, Joan married Don Welcome her loving husband of 40 years and is survived by him, her daughter Denise of Cornville, AZ, her son Clinton Dale (Marta) Lively of Princeton Junction, NJ, brothers Jeff Dale (Patty) Spangler of Lexington, SC, Jerry (Barbara) Spangler of Jefferson, OH, and sister Gale (Spangler) Lilly of Floresville, TX. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Joan loved playing tennis, skiing, traveling and ballroom dancing and met Don at the Arthur Murray Studio in Arlington, VA. A few years after their marriage, Don was assigned to Ramstein Air Base, Germany. During their 18 years there, Joan was employed as a US Civil Service secretary with the Army. She became an avid Alpine skier skiing the slopes of Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and France.

Upon their retirements, they moved from Germany to Cirtsville, WV for 7 years, finally settling down in Cornville, AZ in October 2002 until her passing.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at the Sedona Church of Christ, 2757 W. State Rte 89A, Sedona, AZ 86336
