Clarkdale finalizes funding for senior projects
Clarkdale is almost set to spend part of the next fiscal year constructing a ramada at the senior center and handicap accessibility for the Clark Memorial Clubhouse, said town clerk Kathy Bainbridge.
Town council members are meeting Tuesday at 3 p.m. to clean up language in their federal community development block grant, changing the funding request from both projects to one.
"There was not enough money to do both projects under the CDBG funding," she said. "So the town is going to fund the ramada, and CDBG will be funding the ADA project with the Clarkd Memorial Clubhouse."
The town is eligible for $266,693 in block grant funding. The clubhouse upgrades are estimated at around $260,000, and the ramada will likely cost $28,000.
During an April 22 meeting, the town had decided to leverage both projects with $35,000, but the Northern Arizona Council of Governments. NACOG submits the application to the state on behalf of the town, and asked that Clarkdale only include one project.
The application is due to the state by the end of May.
