VERDE VILLAGE -- Verde Valley firefighters rushed to a burning mobile home in Skidmore area near Verde Village 1 just before 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The mobile on East Copper Drive was already gushing heavy fire and smoke when crews arrived. The displaced family, which included a mother and three daughters, had already evacuated the single-wide mobile home.

Verde Valley Fire Chief Nazih Hazime said the family was relocated to a motel and was unhurt.

The chief says the cause of the fire was undetermined and remains under investigation.

The mobile included a wood burning stove, but he says early flames were reported near electrical outlets near the floor. Crews that included Cottonwood Fire and Verde Valley Ambulance left the scene after about three hours.
