Bingo at the VFW

Nov. 23

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7400, at 705 E Aspen Street, has Bingo every Sunday. Warm-ups begin at 12:30 p.m., and the regular session starts at 1 p.m. There will be 10 regular games, with cashball, based on attendance, and seven special games, including a progressive blackout beginning at $300 in 50 numbers or less and increasing by $10 and one number each week it does not go, and our giant $1,000 blackout in 50 Numbers or less.

Our Ladies Auxiliary sells grilled items, fries, chips, soft drinks, candy and other snack items. The kitchen opens at 11 a.m. and closes after the first bingo break at 2 p.m. The bingo hall is smoke-free, but we have two 10-minute breaks for our smokers.

UCS annual pie sale at Bashas'

Nov. 26

United Christian School is again having its annual pie sale at the Camp Verde Bashas'. This year, the pie sale will be on Wednesday, Nov. 26 from 8 a.m. until all pies are all sold. Pies cost $15 to $20; all proceeds help support United Christian School. All pies are made by the family and friends of United Christian School students and can be pre-ordered at (928) 567-0415.

Vegetarian Thanksgiving Dinner & Kirtan

The Center of Vedic Center in Cornville is sponsoring a vegetarian Thanksgiving dinner and kirtan starting at 2 p.m. at the Vedic Ranch located at 1775 Equestrian Way. Reservations for the $10 dinner can be made by calling (928) 204-4455.

Camp Verde High School Silent Auction Fundraiser

Verde Valley Homeless Coalition Winter Meeting

The meeting features COCSD Homeless Youth Liaison Barbara Amato, the results of this summer's unsheltered homeless county, and a discussion of upcoming volunteer needs for various efforts to assist our homeless neighbors. Taste of Christmas

Spirit of joy Lutheran Church is hosting the event from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Taste and buy lefse, abelskivers, and many home-made breads, cakes, cookies, candies, and much more.  Make an ornament and shop the boutique and craft items and wood carvings. There will also be fair trade coffee and tea for sale. Thrivent financial will provide matching funds. Proceeds go to Matthew 25 fund to help those in need. Breakfast with Santa & Jingle Bell Run

Dec. 6

The 6th annual Breakfast with Santa, hosted by Sedona Parks and Recreation, will be held at the Sedona Teen Center from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and includes a free pancake and egg breakfast, various seasonal crafts for kids and the chance to have your picture taken with Santa Claus.

The Jingle Bell Run begins at 7:45 a.m., starting and ending at the Teen Center, and is led by the owners of the Sedona Running Company. Santa in Clarkdale

From noon-2 p.m. children of all ages can visit with Santa, have their photo taken with the guest of honor, drink hot chocolate and eat cookies, and create an ornament to hang on the Town's tree. This free event will be in the Men's Lounge located in the Clark Memorial Clubhouse, 19 N. Ninth Street. Santa's Workshop

Cornerstone Church in Cottonwood is opening its doors from 2:30-6:30 p.m., after the parade, to offer the public free activities, including access to a DIY photo booth, cookie decorating, letter writing to Santa, story time with the Claus's, ornament making, and hot cocoa. Annual Toy Drive

Dec. 7

The Verde Valley Toys USMC in conjunction with Walmart Super-Center on Rodeo Drive and Hwy 260 will be having their annual toy drive on from noon to 4 p.m. Marines Reservists will be collecting new unwrapped toys for this event. Local law enforcement agencies and fire departments will be in attendance as well. Bring a toy to donate and see the new equipment. As always the toys collected stay right here in our communities. Parade of Lights submissions

Camp Verde Parks & Recreation is looking for entries for its annual Parade of Lights on Saturday, December 13. Register as an individual, or as a civic, church, business, or neighborhood group to be in the parade. The parade runs through Downtown Camp Verde on Main Street from Turner St. to General Crook Trail starting at 6 p.m. Registration is free, but must be turned into Parks & Recreation by December 10. Beaver Creek Food Bank Annual Holiday Meat Drive

Benefit Golf Tournament

The 2nd Annual Zunitch-Thornburg Benefit Golf Tournament to help out the families of Michael "Chuck" Zunitch and Danny "Bugsy" Thornburg will take place at Verde Santa Fe. Memorial Library Annual Book Sale

Free Slash Drop Off

Through December

The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors is continuing its free slash drop-off program at County transfer stations through Dec. 31. County transfer stations are located in Black Canyon City, Camp Verde, Congress, Mayer, Paulden, Seligman and Skull Valley. Free slash drop off will be held during normal operating hours. The following items only will be accepted: brush, branches, grass, leaves and yard trimmings. Items not accepted are: lumber, stumps, roots, cactus, metal and garbage. Small, loose items must be bagged or covered. All slash must be removed from bags when dumping at the transfer station. Red Rock District Visitor Center accepting certain items for recycling

The Red Rock Ranger District Visitor Center is now a community drop off site for used batteries and other items for recycling purposes. Household batteries, printer ink and toner cartridges and cell phones will be collected at the Visitor Center located one mile south of the Village of Oak Creek on Highway 179.

Recyclables may be dropped off during regular business hours, seven days a week from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Please do not leave items outside the building after hours. Car batteries or any kind of battery that is corroded or leaking will not be accepted. For more information, please call the visitor center at (928) 203-2900.

Made in Clarkdale Art Show 2014

"More than just an Art Show," the 28th annual Made In Clarkdale Art Show opens Friday 6 p.m.-9 p.m. with its free Gala Event at the Clark Memorial Clubhouse. It continues daily from 9 am - 9 pm through Dec. 14. The show proudly presents the original artwork of 60+ Clarkdale artists.
