The 28th annual event's gala opening will be Dec. 5 from 6 p.m.-9 p.m at the Clark Memorial Clubhouse auditorium, and continuing daily from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. The show is free, with the exception of evening events on Dec. 11-12. Find out more at

Erev Shabbat service

The Camp Verde Community Library is hosting demonstrations of its free online resources on the first Thursday of the month. December's class starts at 4:30 p.m. and will cover the Legal Forms Library, a resource that provides free access to all forms that are approved for use in the state of Arizona. Giving Angels seek volunteers

Sort, wrap and bag gift bags for seniors from 1-5 p.m. at the old Dollar Store next to Bashas' in West Sedona. Volunteers can also sign up to help deliver Dec. 15-17 in Sedona, Cottonwood, Village of Oak Creek and Camp Verde. Camp Verde High School Silent Auction Fundraiser

Victorian-style Christmas at the Fort

Dec. 5-Jan. 5

Fort Verde State Historic Park in Camp Verde will be decorated for the holidays. Visitors can glance into the past and see how those who once resided at Fort Verde celebrated Christmas on the Frontier. Christmas trees and fireplace mantels will be adorned with unique Victorian decorations, while wreaths and garlands help spread the holiday cheer. On Saturday, Dec. 6, Fort Verde will host a Victorian ornament-making workshop from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Miss Holiday Pageant

Fort Verde Candlelight Tours

Friday and Saturday, from 5 to 8:30 p.m., Fort Verde State Historic Park will host its annual nighttime Candlelight Tours to offer a glimpse of the Christmas season at the historic fort during the Victorian era. Re-enactors dressed in period clothing will provide guided tours along Officer's Row with hot chocolate and light refreshments to follow.

Parade of Lights & Christmas Craft Bazaar

Camp Verde Parks & Recreation announces the annual Christmas Craft Bazaar and Parade of Lights on Saturday. This year's bazaar will be held from noon to 8 p.m. in the Community Center Gym on Hollamon Street with nearly 40 vendors from the Verde Valley and beyond. Come browse the large selection of Christmas decorations and unique handmade gifts for family and friends in our newly renovated facility.

At 6 p.m. enjoy the sights of decorated and lighted floats in the annual Parade of Lights on Main Street. Be the first to see the arrival of Santa Claus in his sleigh and meet him after the parade in the Community Center Gym. If your civic group, church, business or individual would like to be in the parade, registration is now open. There is no admission charge for the Craft Bazaar or to enter the parade. Santa in Clarkdale

Dec. 6

From noon-2 p.m. children of all ages can visit with Santa, have their photo taken with the guest of honor, drink hot chocolate and eat cookies, and create an ornament to hang on the Town's tree. This free event will be in the Men's Lounge located in the Clark Memorial Clubhouse, 19 N. Ninth Street. Taste of Christmas

Dec. 6

Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church at 330 Scenic Drive in Clarkdale is hosting the event from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Taste and buy lefse, abelskivers, and many home-made breads, cakes, cookies, candies, and much more.  Make an ornament and shop the boutique and craft items and wood carvings. There will also be fair trade coffee and tea for sale. Thrivent financial will provide matching funds. Proceeds go to Matthew 25 fund to help those in need. Made in Clarkdale Poetry Slam

Poets are invited to compete at the Made in Clarkdale Poetry Slam at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Clark Memorial Clubhouse, 19 N. Ninth St, Clarkdale. Slam poetry is an art form that allows written page poets to share their work alongside theatrical performers, hip-hop artists and lyricists. While many people may think of poetry as dull and laborious, a poetry slam is like a series of high-energy, three-minute one-person plays.

The poets will be judged Olympics-style by five members of the audience selected at random at the beginning of the slam. Poets of all ages are welcome to compete for the cash prizes for first, second and third place. The slam will be hosted by Sedona poet Christopher Fox Graham. Contact Graham at to sign up to slam.

Clarkdale Home Tour

The sixth annual Clarkdale Historic Building and Home Tour is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person ($5 for children 12 years old and under). All proceeds fund the Clarkdale Historical Society & Museum. Tickets can be purchased on-line at or at four locations in the Verde Valley: a) Checkered Past Antiques (907 N Main St, Cottonwood) b) Main Street Café (920 Main St, Clarkdale) c) The Caboose Gift Shop (900 Main St, Clarkdale) and d) Clarkdale Historical Society & Museum (900 First North St).

Memorial Library Annual Book Sale

Benefit Golf Tournament

The 2nd Annual Zunitch-Thornburg Benefit Golf Tournament to help out the families of Michael "Chuck" Zunitch and Danny "Bugsy" Thornburg will take place at Verde Santa Fe. All proceeds will go to their families. There will be many prizes given out and items for raffle. Cost is $80 per player or $300 per foursome. Verde Valley Homeless Coalition Winter Meeting

The meeting features COCSD Homeless Youth Liaison Barbara Amato, the results of this summer's unsheltered homeless county, and a discussion of upcoming volunteer needs for various efforts to assist our homeless neighbors. Santa's Workshop

Cornerstone Church in Cottonwood is opening its doors from 2:30-6:30 p.m., after the parade, to offer the public free activities, including access to a DIY photo booth, cookie decorating, letter writing to Santa, story time with the Claus's, ornament making, and hot cocoa. Marine Corps Annual Toys for Tots drive

Dec. 7

The Verde Valley Toys USMC in conjunction with Walmart Super-Center on Rodeo Drive and Hwy 260 will be having their annual toy drive on from noon to 4 p.m. Marines Reservists will be collecting new unwrapped toys for this event. Local law enforcement agencies and fire departments will be in attendance as well. Bring a toy to donate and see the new equipment. As always the toys collected stay right here in our communities. Celebration of Christmas at Emmanuel Fellowship

EF Productions presents Celebration of Christmas running Friday through Monday at 7 p.m. nightly; with an additional matinee performance on Saturday at 1 p.m. Back again are multiple levels of seating that makes the show affordable for anyone. There are five levels of seating for all five performances.
