Slide Rock State Park
Slide Rock State Park, named for the natural water slide in Oak Creek Canyon, is a refreshing way to enjoy summer in Arizona. Grab your swimsuit and an extra pair of shorts, and cool off in the invigorating waters of the creek. The Slide Rock swim area is approximately 1/2 mile of creek. There are multiple places to swim and wade, as well as the famous Slide. The Slide is an 80-foot slippery shoot that is worn into sandstone. All water-based activities are at the risk of the user. There is no lifeguard on duty and glass containers are not permitted in the swim area. Stop by Slide Rock Market for snacks, water, sunscreen and Slide Rock memorabilia. The Park also features spectacular red rocks, walking trails, scenic views and historic buildings. There is a historic orchard on site that produces delicious apples each fall. The park is good for wildlife viewing, short leisurely walks, picnicking and swimming.
