Obituary: Tilla Ruth Stadelman

Tilla Ruth Stadelman passed away peacefully on December 2, 2015 at the age of 87 in Cottonwood, Arizona.

Tilla was born on May 11, 1928 in Basel, Switzerland to Herman and Gertrude Weysser. Growing up in Switzerland, Tilla enjoyed skiing, family time and the great outdoors.

As a young woman, Tilla studied to become a nurse anesthetist and decided to seek employment in the United States. She came to Cottonwood in 1958 and worked at Marcus Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Shortly thereafter, Tilla met her husband, Joe, a local builder. They were married in 1958 and raised two sons, Rudy and Joe. Tilla's husband preceded her in death in 1975.

Tilla began a new chapter in her life and joined the Peace Corps as a nurse volunteer in Yemen. Upon her return, Tilla enjoyed reading, hiking and singing in the church choir.

Tilla volunteered for Meals on Wheels for several years. Tilla also enjoyed traveling back to her beloved homeland to visit friends and to New York to visit her dear sister, Esthi.

Tilla is survived by her sons, Rudy (Michelle) and Joe (Eva); four grandsons, three great-grandsons, a niece and nephew.

Per Tilla's request, no services will be held. Donations in her memory may be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 681, Cottonwood, AZ, 86326.

The family would like to especially thank the fine staff at Country Care Assisted Living for the wonderful care they provided to Tilla in her final weeks.
