Busy year ahead for Sedona Village Business Association

It feels like yesterday that I was drafting up the article talking about off season and here we are, going into the last month.

Visitors will soon be pouring into town and another year of busy times will begin again. My favorite thing about this time of the year is watching the days get longer.

More light later in the evening means I can work a full day and still get out in time to snag a bike ride. It is a great time of the year to be a resident or visitor as everything is beginning to heat back up.

The SVBA however has been back in full swing since the beginning of the year. There are a few things that we will be doing within the next couple of months that I would like to introduce today. I am excited to begin a new phase of SVBA and will be talking about much more as the year goes on.

First off, I was fortunate enough to be part of a meeting discussing the possibility of getting the Verde Lynx to stop in the Village. While it is still in the conceptual stage, it is something the business association has a strong interest in seeing to fruition.

Currently all of the staff at my business lives outside of the Village, most coming from Cottonwood. Having the ability to take the Lynx could reduce their daily driving expense by up to 75 percent. For our part, SVBA will be compiling information from our members on about how many of their workers drive from cottonwood to the village. With that information hopefully Lynx can continue to move forward with the project.

We also will be pushing forward in resubmitting our permit for Holiday lights on Highway 179 to ADOT for 2015. We are confident that this year we will be able to accomplish our goal of bringing a gorgeous holiday lights to our town.

That being said I would like to thank the Sedona Village Outlet mall, Weber's IGA, Village Chevron, those who donated to SVBA, and anyone else who participated in lighting their businesses this year in support of the SVBA Holiday Light initiative. I feel the 2015 lights are going to be amazing!

Finally, SVBA wants to remind everyone that meetings will be held the third Wednesday of every month at 4 p.m. at the Sedona Hilton Resort and are open for all who would like to attend. I hope you all have a nice February and don't forget to take advantage of some of the local events coming to town this month.
