Verde Valley irrigation ditches represent the old and new of water flow technology

Diamond S Ditch Boss Frank Geminden says the electronic sensing and monitoring system on his ditch keeps a constant flow using a reduced volume so that irrigators have a full head of water for their land and still use less total water along the 5-mile Diamond S irrigation system. Gates automatically rise and fall as needed. Geminden even has an app on his smart phone that allows him to make manual adjustments to the flow when needed. “It’s like magic the way the automated ditches adjust to changes in flow,” said Geminden.
