Signs of business rebound strong
Spring is my favorite time of year. I love all of the changes that spring brings to Sedona. Planting the garden, putting out the humming bird feeders and spending more time out on the trails due to the longer days are just a few of the great things I enjoy about this time of the year.
Likewise it is also a great time to be in business. March and April were big travel months this year. Lower gas prices than last year coupled with a recovering economy boded well for travel traffic in the village.
One of my favorite parts about being a business owner in the spring is to visit with other business owners. Everyone seems to have a little twinkle in their eye as they tell me how their business is doing. Coming off the economic hard times we had in 2008-2011 it is nice to see business rebounding.
One of the biggest signs for me as to how business is on the way up is all of the new businesses opening up in the Village. From Tequa Plaza all the way to Bell Rock Plaza the Village is seeing new businesses that lend more amenities to locals and visitors in our area.
It is however a busy time for business owners that can make SVBA attendance a little tougher in the spring months. For this reason we tried to make sure that our projects for the year were off and running so we could have a jump on the spring months.
We submitted our findings to the Verde Lynx regarding how many riders businesses might be able to provide if Lynx came through the village. We also are diligently working on the application to ADOT for Holiday lights in 2015. We will still be having our meeting this month on Wednesday May 20th at 4 p.m. at the Sedona Hilton where we will be touching on these projects.
I hope everyone has a great spring and I hope you will all take a minute to try one of the new businesses that have sprung up in the last few months and welcome the new owners, managers, and employees to our community.
