Obituary: Keith Allen Phariss

Phariss, Keith Allen (1951-2015) of Lake Montezuma, Arizona, passed away on May 17, 2015 after a long illness.

Keith is survived by the love of his life Donita Buck, his daughters Jenna Lanoff and Francesca Peila (Ryan), grandchildren Brenda and Johnny (Francesca and Ryan), his parents Lloyd and Nellie Phariss of Colorado, his brothers Bruce (Sheila) of New Jersey and Tracy (Howard) of Colorado.

He also had nieces and nephews along with other relatives in Oklahoma.  Keith was preceded in death by his sister Teresa in 1998, and by his brother Murray in 2009 (Jackie Phariss, Laurie Larson).

His explorative soul led him to diverse introspections.

He loved spending time alone exploring the complexities of the mind and spirit in relationship to others and the cosmos. Keith, a professor in English literature, shared his findings through writing, especially poetry, and through music, and creative works of art.

Playing and repairing trumpets, baseball and other sports, poker and chess, reading books, collecting movies and listening to music were just a few of his interests.

He will be greatly missed by family and friends who loved him and whom he loved in return.

Keith's search for knowledge continues to touch lives. It was his desire that the study of his body might enhance medical research and learning, and we honor and respect his wishes.

For this reason, cremation will occur and a graveside service will be held at a future date in Crescent, Oklahoma.
