Trailer on big rig burns, destroyed in I-17 fire

The fire was determined to be caused by overheated brakes on the trailer from the long downhill grade on the highway. The driver was able to separate the tractor from the load, and it was not damaged by the fire. No one was injured from the incident. I-17 south-bound was briefly shut down during the suppression and was then restricted to a single lane while the debris were cleaned up. (Photo courtesy of MRFD)
