Obituary: Emilia Alvarez Carrillo 1916 - 2016
Emilia Alvarez Carrillo went home to the Lord early (Mar. 30), only days before her 100th birthday, April 5. Born in 1916 and raised in Sycamore, Emilia was the last survivor of six brothers and four sister children of the Alvarez family.
Her father Rosendo was a miner who homesteaded with Julia on the Verde River. Emilia married Jesus Carrillo.
They lived in Jerome with two daughters Stella (Ray) Morones, Vera (Hector) Bueno and two sons, Joseph and Ernest (Josie) Carrillo.
The matriarch leaves 16 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband Jesus, son Joseph, grandson Steven Carrillo and granddaughter Ashley Helgeson.
Emilia had worked for both the Town of Clarkdale and the US Post Office there. She was a homemaker, who enjoyed cooking and baking. Her door was always open to family or anyone who stopped. Emilia didn't have to ask twice. There was always something cooking and everyone knew her reputation for fine cooking. She also loved sewing and being outdoors, buying antiques and collecting stones.
Emilia was a loving and caring person who would do anything to help anyone. She is in a better place and will be greatly missed. God bless you Emilia.
Services will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cottonwood. Viewing will start at 9 am with Mass following at 10 am. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale.
