Helen Laura Criswell, 91, passed away Wednesday, March 30th, 2016 in Cottonwood Arizona. Helen was born October 21st, 1924 to Charley and Leatha Parks in Portales, New Mexico, the oldest of 4 children.

Helen married Delmer (Cris) Criswell on December 23, 1939. They relocated to Tucson Arizona as newlyweds and were soon blessed with 5 children.

During WW2, Helen proudly worked as a "Rosie the riveter" to participate in the war effort. In late 1959, Helen, Cris and their young family moved to the Cottonwood/Clarkdale area so Cris could gain employment with CTI.

In the mid 1960's, they bought and ran Cris's Chevron gas station on Main Street, across the street from A&W in Cottonwood. In 1972, Helen and Cris moved to Bridgeport, where they would both live out the rest of their lives.

Helen was preceded in death by, her parents Charley and Leatha, son Evertt (1944-1946), husband Cris, companion Mr. Jean Vance, sister Ruth, brother Dan, daughter Delene and granddaughter Laura.

She is survived by her sister Pauline, daughter Bettie Lund, daughter Thyna and her husband Danny Parker, son Rodney Criswell, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 9 great, great grandchildren and a 10th due in September.

Services will be held at Westcott Funeral Home, 1013 East Mingus Ave. Cottonwood Arizona, Tuesday, April 5th at 10 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to American Legion Post 25 of Cottonwood Arizona.
