Nevada man accused of luring minors for sex in Cottonwood
COTTONWOOD -- Cottonwood police Monday arrested 48-year-old Nevada resident Clark Reber for luring minors for sex and drug possession.
Police said Reber had been trolling the Cottonwood Recreation Center and Garrison Park nearby.
Reber allegedly left a suggestive note for two 12-year-old girls and a note for a 19-year-old female Cottonwood Recreation Center employee asking them to meet him at Garrison Park, according to the police report
According to the report, Reber had been spending time earlier in the day at the Cottonwood Recreation Center inquiring about the facility.
While there, he handed a note to a 19-year-old employee asking her to meet him at the park. The female employee then watched Reber later drop a note at the feet of two 12-year-old girls. Reber then left the Recreation Center.
The woman employee was able to intercept the note dropped for the 12-year-olds. The note asked the girls to meet Reber in the men's room in the park in 10 minutes. It also stated, "I will be in the stall waiting for you. I got what you need. Promise you". The Recreation Center employee contacted the police department.
Reber was contacted by Cottonwood Police Officers at Garrison Park, which is adjacent to the Recreation Center. Once Reber was taken into custody, police recovered numerous lewd and graphic notes from him. Reber further was found to be in possession of a useable amount of methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia.
While talking to Reber he told officers he has written explicit notes to adult women before, but does not write them to children. Reber further indicated he thought the two 12 year olds could have been at least 18 years of age.
Reber was booked into the Yavapai County Jail on the above listed charges and is currently being held without bond on two counts of luring a minor for sexual exploitation, one count of disorderly conduct, one count possession of drug paraphernalia, and one count of possession of a dangerous drug.
Tuesday, City of Cottonwood officials recognized the quick action of 19-year-old Teresa Rodriguez in the apprehension of Reber after he attempted to lure her and, then, two 12-year-old girls into a park restroom.
Reber, who is a resident of Nevada, was arrested near the restroom as he waited for the girls.
