Gordon ‘Leroy’ Voigt

Gordon "Leroy" Voigt was born in Harlingen, Texas, on April 25th, 1941 and passed away from a long battle of lung cancer on June 10th, 2016 in Camp Verde, Arizona surrounded by his family.

He joined the Army and served as a MP in Germany and was very proud of his service. After he was discharged from the service he moved to Grants, New Mexico where he met his wife of 52 years. He moved to Gallup and owned and operated Navajo Feed Store for 44 years and was completely dedicated to his customers and employees. Upon retirement he moved to Sun City, Arizona. Leroy was active in the community serving the following organizations: Grants Jaycees, Indian Capital Horseman's Association, Elks Club, Prince Luigi Lodge, 4-H Leader, Bi-County Fair Board, St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Gallup, St. Clement's of Rome in Sun City, Gallup High School Rodeo Team Sponsor, Life Member of the National Rifle Association, and many more.

Leroy is survived by his wife Carol, children Daria Weir (Bob), Keith Voigt, sister Carolyn Bayes (Cecil), Brothers Jerry Voigt & Chuck Voigt (Nina), grandchildren Chance Weir (Logan), Danya Weir, Elgia Begay, and Dustin Begay (Santae), and his great grandchildren Ivan, Clayton, Cole, Kaydem, AJ, Quentin, and Sarai and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Mary Voigt, his in-laws Frank & Mary Caviggia, and his sister in law Linda Voigt.

Funeral services will be on June 18th with a Rosary at 10:00am and the Memorial Mass at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Gallup, New Mexico with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall. A private family burial will be at Prescott National Veteran's Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona.
