Frieda Suverkrup

Frieda Suverkrup

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend: Frieda was born December 2, 1932 in Dubuque, Iowa to parents Carl and Edna Witte. She was confirmed at St. Paul's Church in Dubuque, Iowa.

She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School class of 1950. She was married to Henry Suverkrup on August 30, 1953 at St. Paul's Church.

She lived most of her life in Arizona with her husband. Frieda accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was very active in many churches throughout her life.

Frieda was a wonderful mother and wife. She was also very active in her community. She worked with Yuma Fine Arts Association; with her efforts and that of others they transformed the railroad depot into a beautiful museum.

This took a lot of effort from all sides, manual, creativity, and a lot of fundraising. After many years it is still standing today. In state meetings she was recognized as someone who knew the business. She was seen as a financial adviser to nonprofit organizations.

She was often given the responsibility to greet people on arrival because she was well known and liked. Frieda worked with Wickenburg Friends of Music as a long term treasurer.

She took care of the assets and expenditures. Each month it was a balancing act between the two, especially when times were difficult. People wanted the best in production with limited available assets.

She was always accurate in her estimates regardless of the pressure. Frieda also worked with Wickenburg Community Services Organization as a financial adviser and many other responsibilities. This organization helped families who were in need.

At Christmas time there was a real need, but also year round. It was her job to see that the finances were in order and assets were not overspent. Frieda also had some hobbies throughout the years that make us smile.

Frieda loved to collect piggy banks. She also loved to collect new recipes to try out because she loved to cook, bake, and entertain. She loved putting together puzzles, but tearing them apart after she was finished didn't make much sense to her. So she glued them together to hang them up. F
