Sedona Gallery Association presents 1st Friday gallery tour
Sedona's finest art galleries invite you to enjoy a special evening of openings, special guests, artist receptions and celebrations at their monthly 1st Friday in the Galleries Tour on Friday, June 3, from 5-8 p.m.
All guests are welcome to attend free of charge and ride the Sedona Trolley, which does continuous loops to the Gallery Row & Uptown locations. West Sedona locations, Goldenstein Gallery and Greg Lawson's Passion for Place, are not served by the Trolley.
Highlights of this month's events include:
Meet world peace artist, philosopher and gallery owner, Andrea Smith, at the launch of her new coloring book, based on a Course in Miracles. Purchase your copy and have it signed at Andrea Smith Gallery.
ALT Gallery - new arrivals include original works by western artist Charles Fritz and contemporary painter Hessam Abrishami. Other new items include vintage Kachinas, Storytellers and Native American basketry. Come see Northern Arizona's finest collection of secondary market artwork.
Goldenstein Gallery celebrates summer with It's Good in the Garden. Stroll through their stunning sculpture garden set against the backdrop of the Red Rocks and enjoy work by sculptors David Phelps, Sherab Khandro, Glendon Good, Liz Wolf, Upton Ethelbah, and James Muir, the bells of Cheston Trammel and Gregg Payne's Sky Chimes, Frank Marquette and Christopher Null's functional fine art furniture, and Dale Reiger's stained glass houses.
Gallery of Modern Masters showcases Tucson Artist, Cynthia Miller whose unique installations have been featured at SOFA and Palm Beach Fine Art Show. Her medium, vitreous enamel glass, is kiln fused onto burnished copper. These panels are impervious to rain and temperature change and therefore suitable for outdoor, as well as indoor installation. There will be an artist's presentation at 6:30 pm.
World Tour Exhibitions, a new Greg Lawson production vehicle expressly designed for photographers, celebrates its inception at Greg Lawson's Passion for Place gallery in West Sedona.Individual photographic artists will be featured with an image in the exhibition mix marking the launch of WorldTour, a promotion service with plans to stop down in Las Vegas, Atlanta and Scottsdale along with other select markets in 2016.
Honshin Fine Art presents The Immeasurable Light of Nature's Heart. This special exhibit, featuring a series of mandalas of luminous light by Nicholas Kirsten Honshin, exploring the path of the heart through meditative images. Join them for special treats and their celebrated Poetry on the Porch event at 7:30.
James Ratliff Gallery presents the latest Arizona landscape paintings of Greg Heil. Heil paints so others may have the opportunity to "feel" a real sense of the beauty of these often remote spots without actually being there. Or sometimes the viewer has traveled to the location and Heil's paintings provide a lovely daily reminder of joy filled moments.
Lanning Gallery opens Sailing Away: The Encaustic Art of Slava TCH showcasing the esteemed Russian artist's bright, richly dimensional landscapes in which neo-primitivism and abstract symbolism combine to express a mythical ideal. Through June 12.
Lark Art invites you to join them as they celebrate "Stories and Legends: The Narrative Art of Tim Hitchcock." Working both as a carver and a painter, Tim merges his talents to create magical pieces which bring beloved stories and legends to life. Visit Lark to see if your favorite literary works are in attendance.
Mountain Trails Gallery presents Painting Arizona showcasing paintings of Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon, Grand Canyon, Sonoran Desert, Wine Country Vineyards, Alpine Vistas, and more. Also featuring plein air paintings in conjunction with "Pallet", Tlaquepaque's inaugural Plein Air event in partnership with the Sedona Arts Center.
Three of the 11 artists invited to participate in this weekend's Plein Air Legacy Event at Tlaquepaque are represented by Rowe Fine Art Gallery.
The gallery will be focusing on the paintings of Larisa Aukon, Vince Fazio and Lynn Heil during En Plein Air, Rowe Fine Art Gallery is located under the historic bell tower at Tlaquepaque.
Sedona Arts Center celebrates the seasons with the June gallery exhibition, Summer Solstice. The show features new works by Viki Norris, Chrisanne Finefrock, Julie Ronning Talbot, and Nori Thorne and combines pastels, acrylics, jewelry and watercolor.
Turquoise Tortoise Gallery opens Synthesis: Leo Feeney Fine Jewelry welcoming the local jeweler to its 1st Friday reception and showcasing his Southwest styles uniquely created in combinations of opaque, semi-precious and precious stones. Through June 12.
