Mingus golfers 14th at state tournament

In a perfect world, the Mingus Union golf team would have won the state title.

It’s not a perfect world. It’s life and these Marauders went down with their best stuff to place 14th at state. They shot +127 for the tournament, and a final round of +69. Senior golfer Keagan Lamb placed 53rd, with Justin Tanner 76, with Travis Nestor finishing at 81st place and Tyre Kim at the 89th place.

Just to get to the state the team had to overcome Anthem Prep. In the last two weeks, the Marauders played their best golf as a team to qualify.

Coach Mai took two seniors and two juniors and two sophomores to state and will look forward to hitting the ground running next year, where a return to state is possible. Normally, coach Mai likes to let his talent develop over a four-year period. However, with the experience, they have coming back he will look forward to winning now.

During a team meeting before the playoffs, the seniors spoke to the whole team as they were passing the torch letting them (returning golfers), this should not be their only return to state, and the future is before them.
