A few more ducks are arriving as the migration begins to pick up. After I flew this morning I headed down to the ponds to check it out and the Ring necks are beginning to arrive, are very skittish due to getting shot at all the way down here and thus spook and fly giving me great opportunities to get the action shots I like … ditto the newly arrived mallards; the ones that live here year round barely even swim away from you. Also quite a few Widgeons have arrived and a few Green Wing Teal as well.

This is one of the newly arrived drake mallards and if you look close you can see drops of water flying off behind him … like the shadow and fall colors in the water too. A nice day and a quiet finish to it too. More cutting and spending time with friends tomorrow. Kinda lazy to be honest and that is a good thing once in a while. Flying again Friday and then down to Scottsdale to take care of some business.

Time to wrap it … have a terrific day and rejoice that we live in this great country where we get to choose our leaders at all levels; doesn’t happen in many countries.

Give me a few friends who will love me for what I am; and keep ever burning before my vagrant steps the kindly light of hope. And though age and infirmity overtake me, and I come not within sight of the castle of my dreams, teach me still to be thankful for life; and for time’s olden memories that are good and sweet; and may the evenings twilight find me gentle still.
