Board of Adjustments and Appeals, Planning and Zoning Commission need volunteers

CAMP VERDE – The Town of Camp Verde is seeking volunteers to serve on its Board of Adjustments and Appeals and Planning and Zoning Commission.

A total of three seats are available on the Board of Adjustments. One seat is available for a term expiring January 2019 and two seats are available for a term expiring January 2020. Candidates must be Town of Camp Verde residents, not employed by the jurisdiction and be qualified by experience and training in building construction.

One seat is also available on the Planning and Zoning Commission. Candidates must be Town of Camp Verde residents.

Letters of interest will be accepted in the Town of Camp Verde Clerk’s Office at 473 S. Main Street, Room 102 until 11 a.m. December 23, 2016. Council will make the appointments Jan. 4, 2017.

Interested parties may obtain the letter of interest form at or pick up a Letter of Interest form at Town Hall, located at 473 S. Main Street, Room 102.

Operation Verde Lakes yields results

CAMP VERDE – The Camp Verde Marshal’s announced the results of a multi-jurisdiction task force to reduce crime in the Verde Lakes subdivision.

On Sept. 20, Operation Verde Lakes was launched using officers from the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office, Cottonwood Police Department, the Department of Public Safety, PANT (Partners Against Narcotics Trafficking), GIITEM (Gang Intelligence Team Enforcement Mission), Juvenile Probation and the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.

The task force was an outcome of a July 12 community meeting between the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office and Verde Lakes residents. A string of burglaries in the area prompted residents to request increased officer presence in the neighborhood.

Since Operation Verde Lakes was launched, the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office reports the following results:

• 6 arrests (3 felony, 3 misdemeanor)

• 109 traffic stops

• 27 citations

• 39 repair orders

• 114 citizen/traffic contacts

• 1 search warrant

According to the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office, law enforcement will continue to focus their efforts in the Verde Lakes subdivision.

Raffle tickets to raise money for ‘Shop with a Cop’

CAMP VERDE – Verde Valley Shop with a Cop is raising funds through raffle ticket sales of an Arizona Commemorative Carbine Rifle, compliments of the Arizona Rangers.

The Camp Verde Marshal’s Office is selling the $20 tickets at their office during business hours. The drawing will be held Friday, Nov. 25.

The rifle has a black finish and is engraved with the old style Ranger Badge, as well as “PROPERTY OF THE U.S. GOVT., M4A1 CARBINE, CAL 5.56MM, MOD AZR15.”
