OAK CREEK CANYON – SR 89A opened around 6 p.m. Monday, said Public Information Officer Caroline Carpenter of Arizona Department of Transportation, after a rockslide near milepost 375 brought traffic to a halt.
The northbound lane was closed throughout much of the afternoon, and traffic had to alternate in the southbound lane as crews worked to clear rocks and debris from the road, said ADOT.
Lt. James Pott of Sedona Police Department said the rockslide happened around 10:30 a.m., and officers used the open lane to move traffic, alternating the direction, he said.
Sedona Streets Department removed most of the rocks from the roadway, said Lt. Pott, and ADOT responded for additional and final cleanup.
