Council to discuss city attorney, annexation, website, grant
Committee to present review of Thunder Valley Rally event
COTTONWOOD – Cottonwood City Council is set to hold a special and a regular meeting Tuesday evening. The introduction of new employees, proclamations, presentations, approved motions of old business, and discussion of new business are on the agenda.
During the special meeting, council will discuss the annual review of the city attorney, according to the agenda.
Introduction of new employees - John Carter, information technology manager; and Henning Beck, radio and telecommunications technician/adviser - are set to take place during the regular meeting.
Oct. 22 will be proclaimed as “Veterans History Day,” Nov. 6 will be proclaimed as “Mitzvah Day,” and Oct. 16-22 will be proclaimed as “Arizona’s Cities and Towns Week.”
Presentations are scheduled to be given for the Yavapai College update and the Cottonwood Historic Home Tour event. MATFORCE is set to give the Game Changer award to the Cottonwood Police Department, and an introduction and review of the department’s new smart phone application is slated.
Items to be approved at the meeting include the final one year extension of the contract for Utility Bill Printing and Mailing Services with Standard Printing Company; the final one year renewal of the contract for Biosolids Hauling Services with SRE Transportation; the lease extension and rent increase for the Old Town Jail building; and the final one year renewal of the contract for custodial services with Accurate Building Maintenance.
Council is also expected to approve the authorization of the City Manager and Chief of Police to sign the attached GOHS contract to provide $20,000.00 for overtime expenses that will be incurred from Oct. 1, 2016 through Sept. 30, 2017 for DUI Task Force Details; and the authorization for the City Manager and Chief of Police to sign the attached GOHS contract to provide $10,000.00 for overtime expenses that will be incurred from Oct. 1, 2016 through Sept. 30, 2017 for Selective Traffic Enforcement Patrol (STEP) Details.
Council is scheduled to discuss new business also. A public hearing for the Verde Village Unit 8 Annexation, as required by state law, is set to take place. Council is set to provide direction on the new website design, and request authorization to apply for EDA Grant for Old Town Streetscape Extension Project-Phase 4. A review of this year’s Thunder Valley Rally event is on the agenda as well.
City Council meets at their chambers located at 826 N. Main St. in Old Town Cottonwood. Both meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, with the special meeting scheduled for 5 p.m. and the regular meeting scheduled for 6 p.m.
