‘Red, White, & Moo’ offers students lots to do

COTTONWOOD – The Verde Valley Fair offers several ways for students to be involved.

“We would like to encourage pre-school through six-grade classes to submit Elementary Student Art Projects to be displayed at the Fair,” stated a news release from the Fair.

Every student will receive a ribbon.

“Bring you class on School Fieldtrip Day Thursday, May 4,” stated the release. It is free to all county, public, private, and home schools. Gates open at 10 a.m.

Pre-registration was required by April 11.

“It is an excellent opportunity to bring your class to the Fair. Not only will your students see animals and livestock, but they can view exhibits like sewing, photography, school art, science projects and more,” stated the Fair.

Special Education, Adaptive Education, and physically disabled students may enjoy a day at the Fair on Special Needs Day, Thursday, May 4, stated the release.

The program includes free admission and six ride tickets for selected carnival rides. Carnival rides for Special Needs guest will be open between 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Gates open at 10 a.m.

Rides are pre-selected by Browns Amusements. Pre-registration was required by April 11.

“The Verde Valley Fair would like to invite any child (age 1-18) to the Bring Your Pet Contest Wednesday, May 3 at 4 p.m.

“They will be given the opportunity to display their pet on state, tell the judges a little about their pet, and win a ribbon for their participation,” stated the release. To participate in the competition, register before Monday, May 1 at 4 p.m.

Discount ride coupons are available for a limited time. Students can purchase wristband vouchers at Cowboy Shop, Suzy Q Market, Cornville Mercantile, Camp Verde Feeds, Olsen’s Grain Clarksdale, Food City, Bashas Camp Verde or Sedona, Safeway, and the Verde Valley Fair Office.

Fair celebrates Buddy Day May 4

COTTONWOOD – Thursday, May 4 is Buddy Day at the Verde Valley Fair. From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., two wristbands can be purchased for the price of one. The wristbands are good through carnival close on Thursday.

The Fair thanks Brown’s Amusements for the discounted rate.

Verde Valley Fair Livestock Auction set for May 6

COTTONWOOD – The Verde Valley Fair Livestock Auction will begin promptly at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 6 in the Show Barn located at the end of the livestock barns.

“Becoming a buyer is simple; register and receive a buyer’s number prior to auction,” stated a news release from the Fair.

Before the auction, the Verde Valley Livestock Committee will host the annual Auction Buyer’s Luncheon beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the small animal pavilion.

“If you wish to see the animals to be auctioned, make your way to the livestock barns where the exhibitors will be with their projects to answer any questions you may have about their project animal,” stated the release.

The motto of the Fair has been “Dedicated to Educating and Promoting Youth by showcasing their Talents.”

“The Verde Valley Fair Youth Livestock Auction is the culmination of their project year. It is a learning and business venture that these youths have selected, fed and cared for,” stated the release.

The projects are brought to the Fair to be judged, graded, and sold.

“When businesses and individuals purchase an animal, they are supporting local youth in their agricultural venture,” stated the release.

Sunday is Fun Day

COTTONWOOD – Sunday, May 7, has been designated as “Sunday Fun Day” at the Verde Valley Fair.

“Fifteen dollars is all you need to get into the fair and ride all day,” stated a news release from the Fair.

Browns Amusements will provide a new ride called Freak Out. The ride requires three additional tokens in addition to the unlimited ride ticket. Tickets can be purchased beginning at 10 .m. until 3 p.m.

Sunday Fun Day carnival rides begin at 11 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m.

Additional family entertainment scheduled throughout the day includes Steve’s Fun Balloons, Fables of the West, “Fire Stryker” of Prehistoric Adventures, Conjurer the fortune teller, the Puppets and Players Little Theater, Wildlife Wendy and her Tropical Birds, and FAME Motorsports.
