Frances Scully

Frances Scully

Frances Scully, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on the morning of May 28th, 2017 in Cottonwood, Arizona.

Frances was born in Newark, NJ, on October 4th, 1930 to Angelo Perna and Catherine Harris. She was raised by the Cedola family, and spent her childhood in Orange, NJ before starting a career in sales.

While working for Liton Industries she met and married Patrick Joseph Scully Jr. in 1961, and they remained married until his death in 2009.

She is survived by her seven children, Patrick Joseph III, Paul Martin, Christopher Matthew, Elizabeth Marie, Andrew Morgan, David Owen, and Steven Vincent, as well as her grandchildren Rose, Katherine, Emma, Anna, Cameron and Quinn, and great-grandchildren Joshua, Miles, Josephine, and Noah; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom were touched by her warmth and kindness over many years.

Frances lived and raised her family in Montclair, NJ, before moving to Allenstown, NH and then retiring with her husband to Cape Cod, MA. She spent her final years in Flagstaff and Cottonwood, AZ.

Frances was raised in difficult times and in difficult circumstances towards the end of the Great-Depression and the start of WWII. As a result she had an inner strength and determination that everyone who knew her marveled at and learned from.

In addition to having a career, raising a large family, and volunteering, she pursued a life long dream of reuniting with her birth family, whom she had become separated from as a child. After many years of trying she succeeded, reuniting with her brother Angelo Perna Jr’s family, and bringing the Scully and Perna family together for the first time. Something for which both families will always be grateful.

Her smile, warmth, and independent spirit will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
