‘We Are Baseball’ Hall of Fame Tour makes stop in Arizona
Exhibit to appear at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale from March 11 to 26
Starting Saturday at 10 a.m., baseball fans will get to experience a mix of new technology and history in Arizona with the We Are Baseball traveling tour.
We Are Baseball and the Hall of Fame Tour will be open daily at 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. from March 11-26 at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in Scottsdale. The Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies spring train there.
The tour will feature exhibits ranging from virtual reality and historic selfies to Jackie Robinson’s hat and trading card.
Virtual Reality company Jaunt and MLB Advanced Media will have a VR experience of the 2016 postseason, from the first team to clinch a spot to the championship parade.
Fans can also play MLBAM’s new VR game Home Run Derby, where fans compete in the derby in eight ball parks.
We Are Baseball will feature interviews and town hall conversations with a studio audience with baseball and entertainment figures called “squaring up.” The session will be an hour and at a first come, first serve basis. The schedule of guests will be announced later.
There will be also historical IMAX movie
Historic baseball artifacts will be there like Jackie Robinson’s hat from the 1955 World Series, Bobby Thomson’s bat that hit the walk-off home run in the 1951 playoff, Yogi Berra’s glove from Don Larsen’s Perfect Game in 1956 and the last home run ball hit by Babe Ruth for in 1935.
Fans can scroll through the plaques of every hall of famer in HD, create their own Cooperstown plaque and take “history selfies,” inserting themselves into iconic moments.
Cooperstown memorabilia and collectibles will also be for sale.
Arizona Diamondbacks managing partner Ken Kendrick’s baseball card collection will be available to view only on the Scottsdale leg of the tour.
Kendrick’s collection features cards of hall of famers like Cy Young, Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Jackie Robinson and Sandy Koufax.
We Are Baseball ticket prices are $17 for adults and $5 for youth (ages 5-17). College students, military and senior citizens with ID are $10. Tickets are on sale at HallofFameTour.com.
